It is a router like your linksys or wahtever, except that it is REALLY good. Instead of two networks in the back, it has 5.

Your linksys or whatever might have multiple ports in the back, but only 1 wan port and the LAN ports are just one shared LAN interface.

In addition, it can prioritize traffic.
