Hey everyone - I'm having some serious problems with a system i've been trying to build - here's the specs:
Epox 8k7a,
1GHz TBird, 266 FSB
Ati XPERT AGP
256 MB RAM DDR PC2100 (Crucial)
Philips 8x burner
WD 40 GB HD ata100
Below is the message I sent to Epox Tech support, but I have a feeling that the Anandtechers out there are just as good if not better - so any advice would be much appreciated!

I had always had problems right from the start booting up the computer, or even having it crash while in windows. Initially, I had the CPU Clock in the BIOS set to 133 and JCLK set to 2-3 to accomodate the 266FSB - and ultimately it got to the point where it crashed too often to be useable. I then changed the CPU Clock in BIOS to 100, and switched the JCLK1 jumper to "1-2", setting the system back to 200fsb. I still had problems booting up where the system would not completely post - often showing a post code of c1 or 2d (without it counting up to 99), and if i reset the computer a few times, it would boot up completely.
For the week or two where i could at least boot to windows despite frequent crashes, the temperatures were pretty good - it operated around 38C.
but once booted up, the system was somewhat more stable - only crashing maybe once a day (while only playing mp3s, nothing more demanding), although it booted up to only 750MHz instead of 1ghz.
So then I decided to try and get the system to work at 1ghz 266fsb. I switch JCLK1 to 2-3, and i had tremendous problems having it boot to the point where I could even see the bios (post code c1 or 2d). When it finally made it to the bios, i switched the CPU clock setting to 133, hoping it would make things more stable.
Well - that didnt work. At this point, I cant even get the computer to even boot up - the post code is always c1 or 2d.
Where do I go from here? Right from the start I have had problems booting (post code c1 usually), and many problems with the system crashing. I've built two other Athlon computers and I'm pretty experienced/competent with computers on the software side, and I have built two very well functioning computers, so I don't think I made any "novice" errors.
So........ this is where I am now! I hope this story isn't too confusing. I'm not quite the novice that this message makes me out to be - i've built two other PCs in the past 6 months with no problems, and I'm pretty good with all the software stuff. I've read as many newsgroups out there as I can to figure this out, and...nothing. So - any ideas???
