posting a complaint about buy.com aka rakuten.com [fixed]

UPDATE BUY DOT COM FIXED THE ERRORS WITH FULL REFUNDS THIS MONDAY THE 25TH.

I have used buy.com for 5 or 6 years never had bad luck a few minor problems, but all in all pretty

good. I purchased a lot of gear on a more you buy the more you save sale.

Celebrating the name change to Raktuen.com

I ordered a hd7970 gpu

a promise pegasus r4

a pair of 16gb ddr3 so dimm ram sticks. plus some small items.


First order the seal was broken on the new gpu and fans spun slowly an obvious returned not

new item.



Second order item was sold as new it was clearly marked refurbished.

I took photos of it I was so annoyed!



Third item the ram photo was that of so-dimm 204 pins it was dimm 240 pins.


First return worked

second return worked

third return was screwed up

I have a credit for one stick not both.

Got on the phone with customer service they have promised a correction and refund for second stick.


Since it is 16gb stick it is 276 usd.



To top this off the celebration sale was supposed to pay 15x points so I should have

received around 30,000 in points on the 2000 in orders.

Well the points were not issued.

So even if all the gear was good and no returns I would have had to fight for the 300 dollar rebate.

This is not the way to start off a name change.

BTW buy.com sounds a lot better Then Rakuten.com

I will follow up to let you all know if the refunds are fully processed.

To all users of buy.com / rakuten.com be careful !!

I have done 10,000 plus dollars in purchases 2009-2012 no major problems and I got back 83,000 in

points $830 all done correctly.

The site changes its name and 3 orders that total 2000 usd were done wrong.

Plus refunds are still not fixed.

They had a lessor promo and I did a smaller order 240 usd and got back 5x points correctly so one

order out of 4 was correct.

In the case of the promise pegasus r4 selling a refurbished piece of gear clearly marked

refurbished as brand new is

something that has never been done to me by a large company.

They slapped a new upc over a refurbished upc.

Morons as the new upc is far smaller then the refurbished one you can clearly read the refurbished upc.

Also the refurbs come in a brown box. Truly annoying.

I can post photos of the promise pegasus if people want to see them.

(mods I will only post the photos if allowed)

Consider your lesson learned don't buy from buy.com, or Rakuten or whatever the heck they are called now.

BTW bumping your thread is bad form.

buy.com has tons of complaints with the bbb, ftc, consumer affairs, reseller ratings- never deal with them to begin with.

Well I am glad it has gotten attention. I had never had any major screwup over the years so I continued to use them. Well they won't be used anymore. They have paid me 276.99 for the one stick and I am fighting over the second stick. I will get back with a result.

Oh I bumped for attention not love.

And thought it said it's new name was bukake.com

I made a bad review of them on Amazon once. They emailed, asked to have me take it down, said they'd pay me.

I did.

They paid me in Buy dollars, not actual money.
Wish I hadnt.
