First email asked if it was still available, to which i replied yes,are you interested?

Their next email went like this
"Hello,
I feel good to hear that it's still available.Due to how anxious i am
to buy the vehicle,i will be paying you the exact amount of $1000 for
it.My mode of payment will be by check and i will wait for the check
to get fixed up before sending my mover for pick up.I am always
on-shore working all the time,so that makes me not to have the time to
come and look at it at your place.I am satisfied with all the
descriptions put on ads.
Please do not hesitate to send me the name and address where the check
will be made out to and your contact cell phone and your land line for
easy commmunication."

Something fishy going on here????

I can't believe people have to ask if this seems fishy. Anything expensive on craigslist will immediately get emails from scammers.

Hahaha, is there one guy that writes all of these spam messages? Or is it like mad-libs, where you just plug in a noun here and a verb there?

Yup, the reason craigslist runs so slow now is all the damn bots going through it..

The sad thing is people fall for these stupid scams all the time otherwise there wouldn't be so many of them.

(I wonder if this is really what they sell you with the Make money on the internet things you hear on the radio)?

yes, duh, it is a scam. most CL posts will have one or two scam replies. you just delete them and move on to the real replies.

I sold my son's car a couple of years ago on CL...I got several of the same kinds of e-mails...I always played with them to make them think I was going to go along with them...then asked for a huge cash deposit until their money order cleared...PLUS, because Kahleeforneeya law requires me to provide the information on the buyer, I asked for a photocopy of a valid driver's licence that I could include with the DMV forms...for some reason, they'd just drop it after that...go figure.

If you act like a huge whale (sucker with money) and ask for a small cash deposit, they might give it to you in hopes of getting more money later. Then you can earn some money off of them. 😀
