Here:

Corsair Value Select 2x512
235mhz
2.5-3-3-7
5:6 divider
2.8 volts
5 Memtest loops, 3 hours of Prime Large FFT

ValueRAM overclocks better than most people think.

My CVS maxes out at about 210 only. Although I can get 2-3-2 timings on it if I underclock it to 185 or so, which is what I have it at now.

good lord... my Corsair 3200LL tops out @ 210Mhz no matter what timings I use. I think it's partly because I have two different sticks.. one's rev 1.1 (BH5) the other is rev 1.2 (CH5).

2x512 Corsair VS, cant get it over 210, no matter how loose I make the timings. I cant get it below CAS 2.5 either even when underclocking it. It may be my boards fault though, as it wont provide more that 2.72v

that is absolutely identical to my max primestable OC on those bastards. Would go to 231mhz memtest stable, but not over 227.5mhz in Windows.

Hey tom how old are those CVS?

Mine from approx 6 months ago seem to be very similiar to these
230ish memtest 225ish win-stable ones..

Banging the buck where it counts most!

Throw some heatspreaders on them :)

Sapphire X800GTO2 $199.00 after rebate at the Egg

yea i'm really looking at these two right now!

x800gto2 with VIVO 211 shipped

EVGA 6800GS 196 Shippped 2nd day

tried to go cheap and got an msi 6600gt 88 shipped on flea-bay that came with hsf broken
off and 3d-core totally bonked - rma pending :(

I'm really impressed with EVGA and would be happy with a 66gt or 68gs from them

the ATi offers VIVO and SPEED but..
I mainly play AOE3 so NVIDIA is better with ver.3 shaders (right?)
plus a nvidia gpu to mate with a NF4 chipset seems right in this situation

I don't know...I am a HUGE nVidia homer/fanboy/terd but the fact that the GTO2 is softmoddable to 16 pipes....that just seems like it would outperform the very good 6800GS

I think I might trade SM 3.0 for the 4 extra pipes, you might want to get a few more opinions

make absolutely sure you know which cards have older-version GPUs because I think the newer revisions are not unlockable

lmfao

so there you have it;)

Having problems running 2x512 CVS 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 6 (and at looser timimngs)
when I bumped from 2.7 to 2.8 on 1x512 i went from 15 to 21 hours prime95
this was at 300x9 and 3/4 divider=225Mhz

with 2 sticks I failed prime in <1minute!

tried looser timings, no bank interleave, lower divider and 2.9 volts
it only seem to boot at the 3/4 divider and not at .7 or 2/3 at all hmmmmmmmm..

HELP!

Since the memory controller is on the CPU, you gotta take the CPU out of the equation, so drop the multiplier to 5X, say, before running memtest. It's all about trial and error but you should always try to only work with one variable.

Some dividers are more stable than others, at least that's what I have found. Also, it's not always a fact that raising memory voltage will improve performance - sometimes it's better to keep it low.

BTW I would use 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 7 rather than 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 6. You may also want to try 3-4-4-8, and use 2T instead of 1T.

I got my 2 sticks of 512mb CVS up to 202mhz at stock timings :D (didnt' try for anything higher). Proc was at winchester A64 273x9, so this was as close as I could get to stock speeds.

With 2 sticks of CVS and 2 sticks of G.Skill value ram and my processor still at 273x9, I can only have my ram at 175 mhz with a cas of 3 (instead of 2.5) for them to be stable.
