It's interesting to see that the Q6600 and the Dual core 2 T9300 are about the same. The laptop is 2.5 GHz. CPUz is showing the speedstep down speed.

Why does Super PI Mod only use anywhere from 50% of the CPU on the laptop and 25% on the desktop? Shouldn't it be 100% utilization?

I had the desktop overclocked to 3.2 GHZ, bur ever since I flashed with the latest BIOS I can't get that overclock again.

Its singlethreaded.

Run with other applications active and working at the same time.

Wow! 32 million in eight minutes! Can't wait to build my new build!

Now how do you measure all cores?

I guess single threaded is the best messurment since most software is single threaded. The biggest for me is Flight Simulator. More CPU power the better.

super pi is considered to outdated to be used for this kind of comparison,

also what "Xeon" are you interested in? they are mostly the same as the desktop parts with the same architecture/clock...

I guess you could run 8 super pi at the same time and the CPU with more cores would be much faster.

for FSX see this

I did run all of the super pi tests (for the first time, I always only used 1m and 32m) on my i3 2100,

results could be a little better because I was using the PC while running 16 and 32M.

That's cool! The i7 4770K is what I intend to get. Originally I thought about a Xeon E3-1240V3, but I'm just going to go all out on my build and hope to be future proofed for some time.

Super pi uses one core. So if you have 2 cores then it will use 50% of the CPU. If you have 4 cores it will use 25% of the CPU. If you have a 4770K it will use 12.5%. If you have a hexacore with HT it will only use 8%.

That's crazy I remember a time when 32M took like an hour ten minutes. I'll run it on my 4670k when I get home

7.420s 1M on my 2700K. I believe this was at 5.1 or 5.2 GHz a little while back.

The 2M, 4M, and 8M runs were done at 4.8 GHz (my 24/7 overclock).

Not the FX's strong point! Maybe I'll run 16M and 32M later. 5GHz (200x25 / 1866MHz memory)

Sadly, I have the voltage set to 1.53 in the bios. CPUZ shows 1.48 while running this bench. I don't care for this motherboard very much.
