Roll the fillets in a corn flour/cajun spices mix and throw them in the deep fry.

Oh, wait, you said steaks. Well, never tried deep fried with steaks. Steaks can be grilled, though.

If you don't have a BBQ, broil them.

Take some butter/margarine, melt it down, and throw some cajun (or whatever your fav spice is) in there, and then lather up the steaks, throw them under a hot broiler for 5-6 minutes a side, and BAM! Broiled Salmon goodness.

Drawback: Your house/apartment/dorm will stink like fish. :(

Yeah, the butter works good. I suggest using your George Foreman grill if you use butter. Easy to clean up and dump out the butter. ;)

Make it easy on yourself. Put the spices in a quart-size plastic oven bag and then drop in the salmon steaks. Shake them up and let them sit in the spices for a couple hours. Of course keep them in the fridge! Salmon doesn't absorb spices real well unless they sit in them for some time, or unless you use some type of batter like corn flour to hold the spices.

this is really good... but its for a whole salmon.. you need a whole salmon deheaded and gutted... a bunch of ceder shakes.. some lemons butter and sprigs.. cuz slices (width wise) in the salmon every couple of inches .. almost all the way through.. place 1 ceder shake in each slice with some lemon slices and sprigs.. brush the whole salmon with melted butter... especially in the slices... place in the over at like 325-350 for liek 20 25 - minutes.. then take out.. and wrap in aluminum foil for like an additional 5-10.. then take ceder shakes and finish the slices all the way through.. serve on the ceder and garnish with extra sprigs and lemon slices.... its mmm mmm mmm good!

One thing I really like to do with salmon is the following:

take the fillet(s), and gently split it lengthwise so you can fill it with herbs. Season with thyme, marjoram, salt, pepper, and savory, but only on the inside and let that stand for 30 mins to absorb the falvor. Take really really thin slices of lemon and put them inside. Now chop up a little fresh parsley and chives and sprinkle over the lemon slices. Close that up and roll the fillet. Secure with a toothpick.

Take some olive oil and put in whole garlic. roast the garlic for 2 minutes. It should just give it some flavor, don't overdo it. Now fry your rolled salmon in the olive oil. Top off with remaining oil mixed with a bit of cream and a parsley sprig.

The salmon should stay together and be very good eating. I suggest serving it before a small fruit torte.

Cheers ! :)

Serve raw with good wasabe, soy sauce, and a very good hot sake. Luvs my sushi and sashimi. :D

Incidentally, the Japanese word for salmon is also sake. The only difference between that and the word for the rice wine is the pronunciation.

The wife and I eat salmon every week. The best and easy way is to grill them.

lightly coat with olive oil
spinkle of crushed fresh garlic
sprinkle of italian seasoning
salt and pepper to taste

grill em up, serve em with a side of rice and cooked fresh veggies or a salad. add fresh dinner rolls or fresh bread or better yet, garlic bread.

mmm...i'm hungry :)

Mix up 2 parts Dijon mustard with 1 part brown sugar.
Spread on the salmon.
Cook it.

Here's what I always liked:

put your fillets in aluminum foil.

To the foil, add dill, garlic, some salt, some olive oil. Cover, bake/grill until done through and through.

I like this for good salmon; if you're afraid it might be a little older, you might want something stronger. This'll let its taste show through nicely, though.

This also looks good:

Cool, thanks all.
I ended up putting S&P, olive oil, and lemon on the 2 filets, wrapped em in foil, and put them in 450 for about 10 minutes.
Not bad...though I like raw salmon in sushi better :)

I keep my salmon a little "plain" I guess you could say. I marinate it a little bit in fresh lemon juice, sprinkle some freshly chopped dill, and put two lemon slices on top. I bake it for about 20 minutes at 400 degrees (my oven stinks). I then steam asparaghus, zucchini, carrots, and broccoli.

Btw, linuxboy, your recipe sounds awesome. I'll be doing that tomorrow! :)

Lemon, dill, sour-cream, and horseradish.

Can't beat it.

BTW- what kind of Salmon is it? (Red, King, Silver, Pink?)
