Yes, as I said apparantly that software likes clockspeed over everything else. On the average, I can still keep up with a 3.6 I would bet, or at leat real close, and at less than half the price. If you run Prime95 all the time, buy a P4, otherwise I will stay with my Athlon64 for everything else.

Maybe you should try some serious benchies like bussiness winstone and see if your o/c P4 can beat an A64?
From what is known so far:

office applications: A64 BY FAR (64bit)
multimedia: P4 BY FAR (H/T)
games: A64 beats P4 3.2 in many games (if none is o/c of course)

Its heavily SSE2 optimized. Since SSE2 is bounded by clockspeed, P4 will always win over anything else.

It does. But a 3.2GHz P4 can do 6.4 billion double precision operations per second using SSE2, the A64 can only do 4 billion. If per cycle performance is equivalent, then the CPU with more cycles will win.

Heh, I was just goofing around with Prime and posted this thinking it would be fun.

But this seems to be the story of my life today. I posted my 3DMark2003 scores over in the Video Forum and it sparked an "nVidia cheats!" flame fest

Besides, I can't just download Business Winstone.

Got a free downloadable benchmark you want me to try?

I wasn't trying to be ironic on you.But now that I read my post again it seems that I was. Sorry for that man.
