Holy buckets, that bee shot is great!

Click Edit, then click "Go Advanced", then edit the title and save.

All with the D700/105VR handheld:

Love macros! These arer great to look at - especially Peyton's bugs. The only one I could find quickly was a pair of computer screws. 🙂

Taken with the stock flash on my D40x. Bottom portion of the front flower is a bit too dark.

I was looking at this thread yesterday. I was walking home today with my Canon SD700IS and saw this today and couldn't resist 😛
(I know it's not as good)

These are some really nice macros. Today, I saw a tiny pincushion cactus in bloom - it is only about 3-inches tall. Here it is in context:

Is there anyway you can get back there and take another picture? Maybe try taking it from a different angle, one where you're not standing over top if it? I say this because, everyone that walks passed it will see it from the angle you took. Try shooting it from ground level, and see what happens.

The camera lens was about 2 inches away from the cactus. Ground level would be interesting, but the rocks, etc., make that difficult. I will need to put down a pad to lie on. Good suggestion! Will try mañana. 🙂

Looking forward to your results. 🙂

The left side of the perspective shot looks like a good spot to setup, and the rocks add a natural solid background, looks like a perfect setup.

OK - it was not easy. I had to find a pad, and lie down on the rocks to get your suggested angle. This was at about 7:00 AM, and apparently, the flowers close at night. I'll go back later and see if they open up when the sun hits them.

OK - three hours later, the sun was out and the flowers opened up. So I got in close and personal with one - about 1-in from the lens objective.

Other than the rocks being washed out, I love the shot.

I think what makes it, is that you don't always get to see fresh pollen on the pedals, that's awesome.

Agree about the washed out rock - that happened because the flower itself was shaded. Try this one:

My watches Casio MTG, Casio pathfinder, and Rolex Submariner

this is on a crappy old canon G-9, hopefully I can spring for a Sony Nex-3 soon. i'm starting to get the photobug, and thought it would be fun to try. Let me know if I could have did this better...

Wow!! Great closeup, i can see individual bars RGB on the iPhone 4. Now they need to make desktops with this pixel density 🙂

Couldn't resist this - grandkids were about to feed a bearded dragon with his ration of crickets. The camera lens was about 1.5-inches away from subject.
