I'm generally a fan of PC games and have been using the PC for gaming far longer than the consoles for gaming but I've decided to create a thread for consoles. What made me want to create this thread was actually because of my new found interest in PSX games after the discovery of a very good emulator has made me want to buy PSX games and play my old ones all over again (how ironic sony!).

So, I hope people can post their favorite or at least list good games for the PSX platform, then PS2 platform and then list what ever platform they please. I'm interested in finding good games for PSX and PS2 first then hear about other good games from other consoles.

I hope this thread helps others who are interested as well since I never bought many games for the consoles.

As you can see, I've played a crap load of consoles and games. Which one can I say I enjoyed myself with the most. All. They were all good, and that's why I'm writing this paragraph. Many people say they go where the games are. But the games are everywhere. Every console has good games attributed to them. You might develop a personal dislike for a certain type of games such as current Nintendo games. Then again maybe the current Nintendo doesn't have too many games that you like and the only ones you do like are the 1st party ones. But the Xbox360 and PS3 have those other games. These two consoles have more games in more genres available; or at least they will have. I'm not trying to bash Nintendo or its new Wii. I'm just expelling my observations since the N64 and using it as an example to support the point of this paragraph.

I played a funky port of Apocolypse for the PS1 on a DC.
It's glitchy on the DC, but it seems cool enough to possibly buy a PS for.

DC: Red Dog, Toy Commander, Star Lancer
N64: Mario Kart 64, goldeneye, smash bro's
xbox: halo, project gotham racing 2, half-life 2

Mortal Kombat ... On the Sega Genesis. I liked Mortal Kombat 2 quite a bit too. I lost interest in consoles before 3 came out though.

The Consoles themselves are in other at which I bought them. Well, the three first in the list, the NES, SNES and Genesis were all bought by my parents since of course I was quite young and just starting playing video games (like many out there). Then starting with the PSX I bought all my Consoles myself thanks to a teenage-friendly job while I was at high-school. And then later bought them myself with a regular day-time job as an adult. And hell does the time passes so fast, unbelievable.

I also rate each Consoles, and how fun I thought it was to have it in general, according to the games available for it that I thought were appealing and fun to play. And so I'll list the three games for each systems I remember I liked very much, although it'd be far, very far from containing all the "best ones", or else it could be 10+ for each of them easily.

Nintendo Entertainment System 9 / 10
-Mario Brothers 3
-Zelda II
-Blaster Master

Super Nintendo Entertainment System 10 / 10
-Super Mario All Stars
-Super Metroid
-Zelda: A Link to the Past

Sega Genesis 8 / 10
-Gunstar Heroes
-Mortal Kombat
-Sonic 2

Sony PlayStation 9 / 10
-Twisted Metal 3
-Star Wars: Rebel Assault
-Command & Conquer: Red Alert -Retaliation-

Nintendo 64 10 / 10
-Mario 64
-Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
-Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Sega Dreamcast 6 / 10
-Shadow Man
-Ecco the Dolphin
-Power Stone

Microsoft XBOX 7 / 10
-Halo: Combat Evolved
-Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
-Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Sony PlayStation 2 7 / 10
-Shadow Man 2
-Twisted Metal: Black
-Red Faction

Nintendo GameCube 7 / 10
-Zelda: The Wind Waker
-Star Wars: Rogue Leader -Rogue Squadron II-
-Turok: Evolution

And so ... so much more.

Overall, my three favorite Consoles were the SNES, Nintendo 64 and Sony PlayStation. But since I know about PC gaming (the first PC game I ever played was one of the Lemmings game, not sure which one, might be the first one) I can't quit it. However I will never ever forget the "good ol' Console days" of my young years, especially the SNES (I think it's a classic one).

Limit your results to 50 or 100 and PS1 OR PS2 and have a ball. Seriously, the lists are semi accurate (You may rate a game 5 in the list, they may have it at 9, but it is pretty much guarenteed to be in the list) and it is much easier than listing the games. There is far too many good games between PSX and PS2 to list unless you want this post to be rediculous.

I came up with 16, none of which are PS/PS2 games the OP asked for, but....:

Zelda: A link to the past (SNES)
Super Mario Bros. (SNES)
Super Mario Kart (SNES)
Crazy Taxi (DC)
Donkey Kong Country (SNES)
NBA JAM (SNES)
New Super Mario Bros. (DS)
Super Metroid (SNES)
NCAA Football 07 (Xbox)
Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
Mario Paint (SNES)
Soul Caliber (DC)
Desert Falcon (Atari 7800)
Dig Dug (Atari 7800)
Pole Position (Atari 7800)
Super skateboardin? (Atari 7800)
Voodoo Vince (Xbox)

For PS/PS2:
I haven't played a big variety of PS games, but heres what I thought was fun. I remember playing the first Resident Evil on PS, good game for it's time. I haven't played any RE games for PS2, but I'm sure they are pretty good. The burnout games are fun for PS2, I liked Burnout 3 the best, but Burnout Revenge (Burnout 4) is also fun. I also like the ATV games for PS2, I play against my brother in ATV Off road fury 2 and MX vs. ATV Unleashed still. I've played outlaw golf and outlaw volleyball, they were ok, should be able to pick them up for cheap now. There is a pinball game called flipnic that is very addicting. God of war is kick ass if you are into that kind of game. Jak X combat racing is no mario kart, but still fun.
