The question is general, but do keep it related to Personal Computer(s).

I'll start...

I get a call from a distraught elderly lady wanting me to come see why her PC no longer works, pre-troubleshooting seems to point to a "power source" issue. When I arrive, the first thing I do is check voltage at wall socket (its ok), then begin to remove the PC tower from the side of the desk. I was shocked to see that there was a large amount of crystallized (hardened and melted) duct-tape!!! It must have been 1/2" thick on some parts!!! I ask the 78 year old lady, "what on earth is this doing here" she replies "I put the duct-tape over there long time ago because the fan in the back (for the power supply) was making too much noise." The tape was completely over the fan exhaust outlet on the power-supply. I asked "why did you use soo much of it?" she replied "because it keept melting off so I keept adding more."

Sometimes I wonder how do some people get as old as they do without any common sense!

Well, I gave her a $250 lesson ;)

So, whats your story? (Please no fake stories)

We had a woman at Best Buy bring her computer back because the retractable(sp) drink holder broke.
