I would not think any soldering would be involved but some BIOS modification would be necessary and if the EC trips out with the power management left hanging then EC firmware might also need some work. Insyde BIOS might fight you on mods too. Certainly not as easy as changing a few variables but you will probably need to do that as well.

8700K @5.1GHz: 912
7700K @5.1Ghz: 911

Very close. This was a siliconlottery.com purchase.

Any Goldmont Atoms?
*cricket sounds*

I mean Goldmont anything really (i.e. Apollo Lake), I consider it all "Atom" despite silly marketing.
Now I understand why no one wants to post their score. I quickly tried this on a Cherry Trail Atom x5-Z8300 1.84GHz laptop on display at Best Buy that had Windows 10. It only gave me a score of 135, which is not really any better than the original Atom from 2008 if you do 1.84GHz/1.6GHz.

Acer Aspire One D270 (Atom N2600) - 112 (1.6GHz)
Acer Aspire One ZG5 (Atom N270) - 108 (1.6GHz)
They had one with Pentium N4200 but was locked in a cage for some reason. Kind of bizarre, they're afraid someone will steal a laptop with an Atom CPU? haha maybe I'll find something better if I go to Staples.

I get around 765 with 7940x @ 4,6GHz (turbo boost 3.0 clock)

Seems kinda low, seeing those 5,1 GHz of other people fetch 911 points... if i extrapolate from that number, i should be having around 820 score. Any idea what is going on and why i dont?

Right click and run as administrator gives a higher score. You could also try setting affinity which may help. Windows default to all cores so the single threaded app is bouncing around a lot. I changed mine to core 0 and 1 which bumped my score up 30pts or so.

My 7700HQ @3.8GHz turbo speed only gets 675 so don't feel too bad. :)

That's lower than my 5960X @ 4.5GHz... I locked affinity to my eighth core and raised the priority to above normal.

i5 7300HQ - 576

Equivalent to a 4.95Ghz FX in single threaded tasks. I just went all laptop and sold my desktop.

At turbo and doing the test the i5-7300hq is at 3.5ghz. Is it safe to say that Kaby Lake has an 8% IPC advantage over Ryzen?

Then is something wrong with your results or result of the i7 7700K at 5,1GHz ~911p. Some math done and you get 18% IPC advantage over ryzen.

Core Duo at 4GHz scores ~565p

Going to from a single channel 8GB stick to dual channel (8GB+4GB Flex dual channel) netted an increase of 6.25%.

Here's my result for the Gemini Lake Pentium J5005 (Goldmont Plus):

377

It's a NUC7PJYH with dual-channel DDR4-2133 CL15.

Thanks Brunnis.

Finally got a chance to try this on a Pentium N4200 2.5GHz laptop on display at Best Buy, and it gave me a score of 277.
