My contribution, Asus PCI 2000 I820 chipset. Ok, so it was flawed to begin with, but still was a POS.

Anything based on the KT266 chipset (not kt266a)

Intel PD-440fx motherboard...first gen Pentium II mobo that was designed from a PPro mobo. Crap.

Gigabyte GA-7DXC. Complete POS. I got one of these by accident when I ordered a GA-7DX mobo.

Early revsions of the A7A266 were really hard to get stable. Later bios releases were better but many people still had problems. Needed ALOT of power, alot of cooling, hated Sound Blaster Live cards and cheap DDR. The ALimagic chipset really had issues.

The infamous Epox 8KHA+ ver 1.0.

Numerous boot failures makes you think does EPOX really deserve so much praise today???

Asus P5A. I've seen 3 of those boards burn enough RAM and CPUs to rival anything out there.

MSI K7T- pro2&pro2-A evidently there was a physical defect that caused them to die early deaths, I lost one of each in a spand of 2 months, even the K7S5A's I've used are all still running, so for you about to say K7S5A is junk, not on my list ;)

I've just had a DFI K6BVA+/66 die immaturely from blown up capacitors. This is my pet hate on mainboards. Strangely as it might sound to some people, it never seems to happen with PC-Chips mainboards, but it did happen to me with older ASUS gear as well.

Trying hard to think of one I used that sucks design-wise. Can't remember any ... maybe that's because I smell the problems before I buy stuff :)

iwill XP333 has been the best+worst MOBO experience I've ever had.

1. The active cooling fan on the northbridge is like 60db. twice as loud as all of the other 6(80mm) fans combined.
2. the northbridge is incredibely easy to overheat.
3. when the northbridge does overheat, it takes hours to get the computer to post.
4. It takes upwards of a dozen attempts to reset the bios manually (ie: replacing the jumper for the bios battery and/or replacing the bios battery itself)

This means that almost everytime I have to install something, it'd a given that it will take at least an hour to get the system to boot. *sigh*

Nonetheless, when it's working it's nice. Running cpu/memory in sync at 170 fsb stable for a while. yay!

Oops... forgot to mention the real beast... the old via apollo kt133 (not 133a).
That board was a real whore. It was completely impossible to get it to run stable in 2k with a nvidia based graphics card. Everytime you ran a dx game/application it would crash like there was no tommorow. I spent several months trying to resolve the issues, never was able to. Uck... crappy chipset.

The infamous Epox 8KHA+ ver 1.0.

I've got two of these and they still run like a champ @ 160+ mhz FSB. I know the very first batches had biops chips with cold boot issues, but if you had one Epox very generously sent you out a new one with a bios puller for free. I think you are waaaaay over exaggerating calling them infamous...in fact, in a recent study, the Epox 8KHA+ was voted one of the most solid AMD boards ever..

Numerous boot failures makes you think does EPOX really deserve so much praise today???

Yep, they deserve every bit of it. They consistently put out top notch boards at very reasonable prices designed for the enthusiast...

Man, the 8KHA+ was one of the most stable and easy to setup boards I have ever had!
