My old comp was a Celeron 333 that ran at 416 with a cheap heatsink. It posted once at 450, but never did it again.

I got my Athlon (550 core, week 44 of '99) to post and boot to windows at 733 by upping the fsb to 133 and upping the voltage to 1.85. It froze once in windows though. It was stable enough to do a few benchmarks at 700. However, at such high fsb speeds, my NIC stops working. It gives up once I go ever 110mhz. I'm operating it at 600 until I get my gfd. Then I'm going to find out how stable 700 really is.

quit bragging bonkers :) we all know you could overclock any cpu. BTW bonkers I'm looking for one of those 566s at 850. Email me if you've got any

My best would have to be a PIII 550e @ 891mhz 1.7v... yes it is air cooled.

DDad: overclocking a cyrix pr300 to 300... been there tried that. ended up melting the socket closed, the heatsink was glowing red at the base, all the fins started sagging towards the bottom of the case, the fan fell off because of the distrotion of the HS, and the computer locked up badly (can't guess why). And my stupid a$$ grabbed the thing to see how "hot" it was. Let me tell you I've gotten burned on soldering irons and things like that, but this was 10x worse. End result: burnt finger tips, dead mobo (fitting end to that shuttle hot 591p), video card, 2 ide cables, cpu, hs, fan, 1 of 2 dimms, a floppy drive, and my usage of cyrix products. NEVER try this at home, I could have started a fire had I figured it was stable and walked away.

Running a p3 slot1 600e cb0 @ 1002 (167 fsb) @ 1.75 volts on a be6-2,
with an alpha p3125. Using sh bios. Machine on continous for a week, cracking rc5, surfing, playing quake3, 3dmark. No crashes. Don't think I'll be upgrading for a long, long time

<< Cyrix MII-300 ( 225Mhz) @280Mhz

no doubt. became quite a rocket too. >>

The MII-300 is 233MHz, it should be 66x3.5, not 75x3.

How did you get 280MHz? I use mine at 262.5MHz (always at that setting - for about a year now). I got it up to 290.5MHz, but wasn't stable. I have a 3dfx cool fan and PC66 sdram.

I used 100x2.5 but it was too much for my ram :( was the fastest setting though.... the only faster thing would be 300MHz..

Just topped my old high... new power supply, and I can run 900mhz out of a 550e (163mhz bus). Still pushing for 180 :)

Let's hear it again for the 300A! Got mine up to 517 MHz with aircooling and 2.2 volts. Not much speed by today's standards, but that's a 72% overclock.

Most painless: 300A celeron to 504 @ 2.2 volts
Most fun and satisfying: Celeron 366 to 660 @ 2.2 volts
Most frustrating: Celeron 566 to 932 @ 1.8 volts

Last two done with a Soyo 6BA+IV, miscellaneous 8ns PC100, Abit Slocket III, and a water cooled 72 watt Peltier setup.

Best and easy as pie
K6-2 350@392, 3.5*100@2.2v, Epox EP-MVP3G-M, Global Win air cooled for 11 months/ It still works, but I have it stored now.
Worst
K6-III 400@400, 4.0*100@2.4v, Epox EP-MVP3G-M, Global Win air cooled
A little better performance over my K6-2, but the K6-III is not known for overclocking.

That is all I have owned. LOOKING FORWARD TO Duron!

K6-2/350 overclocked to 500MHZ with Alpha cooler. it would be stable for about 15 minutes and then NT would crash.

K6-2/450 @ 600MHZ with Alpha cooler. NT crashes in about 5 to 10 minutes.

550E @ 852Mhz cA2 1.75 volt
600E @ 888Mhz cA2 1.75 volt
650E @ 1007Mhz cA2 1.70 volt - Vapochill cooling
800E @ 1070Mhz cBo 1.80 volt - Vapochill cooling - Boots @ 1152Mhz!

Havent tried out my 800E cBO much yet but my goal is 1100Mhz stable and i dont think that will be a problem with the Vapochill @ -15C. Played Quake 3 for 2 hours yesterday @ 1070Mhz but from 1070 > 1152Mhz i get win registry errors. Sometimes it loads up win but i get the same old reg errors. Will try with a BX board after my vacation. Mushkin High Perormence Rev 2 CAS2 memory are on the way to.
