newegg reviews take out anything negative about them...so i was wondering what kind of problems people do have with newegg.

Wow, this is totally not off topic >_<.

And Newegg does take out negative reviews, but not many, simply cause not many exist.

http://www.resellerratings.com

Based on reviews on there, Newegg is the 23rd most reliable online store.

On newegg's page, going through like 10 pages got me like 3 or 4 negative reviews, all which were resolved by customer service.

Quit being so negative.

I almost always need parts next-day, but when you place an order with NewEgg and pick next day shipping, you still have to check the box to do rush processing so that it actually gets to you the next day.

Well, after reading numerous posts from many people claiming their shipments always went out the same day without paying the 2.99 fee, I chanced it one time. Ordered on a Thursday (early morning, about 10am EST), and itd didn't ship out until Friday night. That was a fun weekend.

I mean, if someone is paying extra for overnight shipping, don't you think newegg should just take the 2.99 fee and include it in the shipping costs and give you an option to deselect it? Make sense to me.

Other than that, I love NewEgg.

I have never had any problems with them worth mentioning - and I've purchased well over $20k worth of stuff from them for business and personal use.

I agree the "same day rush fee" is a bit annoying, and the fact that they censor criticism on their site is disconcerting, although I don't think it's unreasonable.

No problems here. Great experience w/ their customer service 2 years ago when a couple video cards stopped working. No problems ever other than that (and CS fixed it too). If you're that concerned about censoring reviews, shop elsewhere? Plus, negative reviews on individual products isn't a black mark on Newegg... just that they carry not so good items at times.

Never had a problem with them.

positive experience #1 : FedEx Ground lost one package a couple of years ago. One call to newegg and they shipped out a replacement right away. When FedEx finally found the box a couple of weeks later and delivered it to me instead of newegg, newegg arranged for pickup and paid the shipping for the box.

positive experience #2: I recently RMA'd a defective video card. The online form worked perfectly and got me the RMA number instantly. They shipped a replacement by second day air within a day of receiving the bad card.

I needed an RMA on a hard drive one time. I called up and just about hung up on the guy because he was American! I thought I had the wrong number! Other than an RMA I've never had a single issue with them, and I love American csr's.

I had to RMA a HDD also, about 4 years ago. Was taken care of quickly, so can't complain. Otherwise, 5 years, no problems.

Bad experiences are not limited to actually completing a purchase. Hit any price search ginny and the company's prices are often not particularly competitive and their claims of "free shipping" border on fraudulent. For example, a viddy card sells elsewhere for $288 plus shipping and another place $296 with shipping while Newegg's price is $316 with "Free FedEx Saver Shipping". Yeah, right. Now one might just conclude that their price on that item sucks and move on. However, they really play games with the fake free shipping as evidenced by comparable items they sell often having equivalent shipped prices, yet one will be lower with an additional shipping charge while the other will be higher with shipping included. Sucks eggs.

never had no problems with them. I've rma'd things to them a few times, and they've always waived the fee. they're not as competitive in pricing as they use to be, and that has made me go elsewhere for parts.

I probably spent $6k or more at newegg over the years. Only bad experience I had was when a nforce2 mobo I was building for a friend was DOA. RMA'ed it, no problem but the shipping to send it back to newegg was paid out of my friends pocket.

Ordered a Radeon 9600 one time, they shipped me a 9600SE. Other than that one instance, newegg has been very good mainly, except for the price gouging.

i never had problems with pricing. i always checking newegg vs monarchcomputer vs zipzoomfly and find it varies between products. the shipping with newegg is the fastest. I placed an order yesterday around noon, and got the cheapest shipping (since it's normally fast anyways) and I got it today! I am not that far away (I in las vegas, they in southern cal), buit still faster than zipzoomfly's free 2 day shipping.

I don't like the fact they take out their negative reviews, but I never had problems with them.

Major problems with Newegg themselves, that would cause me to stop buying from them? Nope, haven't had any. With that said, while spec'ing a system for someone once, over the period of a week, I noticed that the price on one particular item started out at $x with "free fedex saver shipping," then later in the week went to $(x-4.99) and 4.99 Fedex saver shipping. So yes, they do play games with the "free" shipping. However, for what I've ordered so far, it seems that by the time I would buy each individual component from a different etailer for the "best" deal, there would be so much hassle and I wouldn't save much in the end anyway.

With that said, on their own website, they will almost never post negative product reviews unless the reviews are written in such a way as to show that the reviewer is an idiot. For example, I sent in a review of a multi-card reader, commenting on the fact that the faceplate of the device had to be ripped off with a set of pliers just so I could insert a CF card into the CF slot because the POS was not designed with enough tolerance around the CF slot to allow an average card to be inserted without majorly damaging the card and perhaps the device (but the darn thing still works, and transfers fairly fast as well). Needless to say, the review didn't get posted - which is why I now don't put any stock whatsoever into the Newegg reviews, preferring instead to get my info from here. :)
