I found a couple of small 4 stroke engines. I found an 8 year old laptop at the time(2009), and still use it to this day for 24/7 folding. My friend and I found some computers, but they were useless, so I just kept the processors.

8 year old laptop for folding? 😵

I fold on my P4s. I'm not getting much work done, but I am generating heat, which is my goal. Instead of just heating the house, and releasing it to the atmosphere, I can do some good. It may be a small amount of good, but it's better than running a heater, and accomplishing nothing.

That is amazing, I'm stripping all the radiators out of my house and sticking p4 laptops on the wall.

Electric heating is significantly more expensive than gas heating.....

In winter, the "efficiency" of everything increases. The computer I leave running all the time generates about 120W of heat. I switched out my bedroom's 13W cfl bulb for a 250W heat lamp. It's actually a really shitty heat lamp since heat lamps are supposed to be invisible light. This thing clearly makes visible light and it's extremely bright. And warm 😀

Found a pentium "D" system, bought used hard drive had it running for awhile. Bought a pair of Pioneer HPM100 speakers at a garage sale for $5, woofers shot, solg the Xovers, mids, and ribbon tweeters for over @100 on Ebay..

Found 3 Dell CRT's in perfect working order. Extremely solid pieces of hardware.

Carrying those half a mile was backbreaking and absolute hell.

oh no, not someone else who doesnt know how to properly use an Equalizer.😱
good find though.
I found a measuring wheel in the trash, worked great...case know one realizes, they are quite expensive.
I also found some emergency triangles...like over $500 worth, all brand new. their normally $30 a piece.
another good find was an AT&T cable modem brand new, some laptop chargers brand new

you all dumpster dive?

I've never physically been inside the dumpster. At my old apartment people would leave stuff they didn't want anymore but was still usable next to the dumpster. Furniture and stuff was pretty common but every once and a while you'd see electronics or appliances like older TVs or stuff like vacuums.

No thanks...

Daddy is a dumpster diver and he brought a used toilet home once or twice... F8cktard...

Found an old XBOX (classic) in the garbage with a broken cd tray one day - took it home, ebay'ed a replacement drive for 40 bux, and bought a modchip here for $20 on ATOT and had a modded XBOX.

Lasted me a few years. The XBOX was only about a year old when I found it.

This.

Also older work units still need to get done as their codeset is different than smp or gpu work units.

we had a 52 in RP tv that i replaced some diodes in. we used to have a 20 in Sun crt. a friend had a bunch of sun work stations set up too.

I went dumpster diving yesterday and I guess I was at the right place at the right time because I found a perfectly working Panasonic LCD TV Model TC-32LX70 in a different box (I guess they got a newer model and did not want the "Old" one any longer so I now have me a nice LCD HDTV
