I ordered my 8320 but I'm waiting on my thermal paste to get here (gave my last tube to a friend) . It should be here by next week and I'll mess with this chip a little by then.

what paste and cooler

The paste is MX-4 and the cooler is a Antec Kuhler H2O 620 with an extra fan for push/pull. I'm looking to find better fans though as I only had spare case fans lying around and they were pretty cheap.

well 5GHz isn't hard to hit with the Vishera chips it really depends on your motherboard

was at 5.1GHz but it got to toasty so now it sits at 4.81GHz until i get a water cooler

What are your temps like at 5.1 and 4.81 respectively?

Oh I'm not too familiar with what these chips can do yet. I haven't done too much research but either way I'll see what I can do with mine and post the results.

at 5.1 was seeing temps around Idle:60C+ and 4.8 Idle:40 and Load:61c

Have you run IntelBurnTest, AMD OC stability test of OCCT to check stability? BTW those are very high clocks for air.

I fooled around with IBT, AMD OD stability test and OCCT and decided I wanted my rig to pass all three as follows: IBT at least 20 runs and AMD OD stability test the recommended 1 hr with all components tested and OCCT for the recommended 1 hr with no errors. Rig three below at stock voltage at 4.334 Ghz (20 x 217) passes all three. When I start to raise the multiplier above the 20 I have to increase voltages and thus power and heat to get more stability. I'm going to do some fine tuning to get my rig to 4.5 ghz. I'd rather have a bit slower and cool than try the 4.8Ghz gig with high heats and questionable stability.

Nawl used Prime95 for 3hrs and yes ik there high clocks but 4.8 is just fine as volts aren't that high so not as bad as 5GHz

You could have gotten a combo deal, with the ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 for $386.98

Well the 5ghz mark...

It seems ppl are pushing limits of these chips heat and Vcore wise to it's limits We just have to see if Vishera chips can handle the Abuse for any extended period of time.

Yes i know i have my IB at a high Vcore.. but im also 25 c from TJ Max..

What water CPU cooler are you going to get and what TIM do you use at present?

Have there been any reviews showing total system power usage when underclocked/undervolted ?

google and searching the forum is showing nothing for this, which seems odd to me
