download here

New version will unlock hardware masked pipes and vertex shaders.

Post your results!

I'm about to try it out.. brb 🙂

edit:

My card is ONLY partially moddable..

when i try enabling the extra pipes i get green graphic errors in doom3.. timedemo went up by ~3 fps..

unlocking the extra vertex shader seemed to work (12x6) right now.

Better then nothing I guess.. 😛

users with fully unlocked 6800s are reporting ~15% performance increase!!!

Damn, this isn't going to drive up the cost of 6800NUs is it? I remember how the Radeon 9500 Pro got kinda expensive after people figured out they could make a 9700 Pro out of it.

Yup, and ATI went on a tirade of mandating all 9500 cards be 128-bit memory configs from then on and demanding resellers cease selling remaining stock of the 256-bit cards =\ I suspect nVidia will be killing off the 6800nu shortly after the 6600GT hits the shelves, to widen the gap some between the 6800GT and the "mainstream" cards.

As long as they have defective chips they will have reason to sell the 6800 and 6800le, but as long as that is the case there is a chance the softmod wont work. 😉

I doubt it; the 6800 is lucrative because if a gt or ultra fails but can be saved by disabling one of the quads / vertex units or possibly even the RAM the board could be salvaged for a price that still will draw a profit for nvidia. I think when the 6600 gt is available for AGP the price of the 6800 will actually drop a bit to draw some buyers to the next level - hell I got my BFG 6800 OC for 249.99. Also these cards JUST became widely available - I dont think there is a possibility of halted production until the refresher comes out.

I have mine doing 16x1, 6vp. 3dmark03 seems to run fine with a score around 9300.

It may drop a bit, but i doubt too much. I say it drops when the ultra also drops. Its priced nicely between the 6600gt and the 6800gt respectively and thus i dont see it falling. NV doesnt want to increase the sales of their mid-upper range cards all that badly to warrent a price drop on it.

Doubtful. Not only is this not a full mod to 6800GT (it still has half the memory and much less memory bandwidth, unlike the 9500 > 9700 Pro mod) but also the 9500 was selling for IIRC the $140-175 range when it first came out, and then less after that, while the 6800nu is still going for ~$275 on average.

I don't mean to be following around correcting you jiffy, but I feel it is important to point out that the nu still has the 256bit bus of it's faster brothers.
