So, my brother is flying my Fiancee and myself to Hawaii from Chicago for a wedding gift using his AAdvantage miles. Well, we called them up to book the flights, and all of the 35000 point seats are taken up. So we asked them what else was available, and they said there is room on the 9:00 AM in first class for 75000 points, or else there is anytime during the day for 70000 points in coach. So, would you try to catch a 9:00 AM flight the morning after you get married to get first class, or would you take a afternoon seat in coach. We don't really care what time we arrive on the Island. The airport is about 30 minutes from our house BTW.

Definitely first class, 9 AM isn't that early.

I thought you meant like 3 AM or something like that.

well, you'll probably be up all night getting jiggy...so....

actually, from what I've heard from friends, by the time you leave the reception and go home you are wiped out and sleep a lot. I also can't sleep on planes, so I wouldn't be able to catch up on the missed sleep. I'd personally enjoy the First Class since I don't ever fly anything but coach, but you might enjoy the extra rest.

A 9 AM flight means getting up at 5 or 6 AM depending on how far he has to drive to get to ORD. ORD is a mess with the new security and one should be there 2 hours before their departure time.

It's your honeymoon! Fly first-class and tell the flight attendants it's your honeymoon. They'll enjoy that.

Seriously.

It is well worth it. Tons of leg room, free drinks, less asshats to deal with, etc.

I live about 30-45 minutes from Ohare, and its not that bad in the morning usually. (depending on day). Security isnt anything like what it used to be. You need to show up like an hour early max now, not 2hrs (unless you do something stupid).

At least thats how it was for my wedding flight out to cali from O'hare.

I have been to ORD two times since 9/11 and have not had any horrible security experience. LAX has probably been the worst with MCO coming in second.

As I remember, O'Hare on a Sunday morning isn't too busy... We would be leaving on a Sunday.

My wife and I left our reception at 11:30, got to the Charlotte airport Holiday Inn at 1:30, got up at 4:30, and were at the airport at 6:00 for a 7:00 flight to Jamaica. The travel sucked, and we were worn out, but getting to our honeymoon ASAP was worth it.
