Post the worst day you can remember.

This is not meant to be a parody, but rather to offer some perspective. So, everyone, post what happened on the worst day in your life that you care to share.

I have a couple possibilities: each of them had one big thing happen that made them bad, not a bunch of little things.

1) Day my car got stolen. Not only was I out about half a year's pay, but it's a really crappy feeling of violation to know that something you put a lot of time and money into can just disappear without you doing anything wrong.

2) Day I got mugged outside my apartment. I ended up missing work the next day because I was in the hospital all night waiting to get stitches. The worst part about that kind of thing is similar to the stolen car instance - the feeling of violation - that you're really not safe anywhere, even right outside your own home.

let's hear your stories.

Accident while drinking and driving while enlisted in the USMC. The month in the hospital was priceless.

Honestly - my worst day was also my best - the day I came out 🙂

I'm lucky I guess - nothing terrible has really ever happened to me, or I'm just an optimist 🙂

today, while reading about that 1st "worst day of my life" thread

hahaha, so true

Actually, to put into perspective our "C" student friend, finding out that my g/f was pregnant right after we split up, then to find out she had a miscarriage. All while we were living together.

THAT is a bad day!!

The day my brothers and sister were killed in a nuclear explosion.

EDIT: OK, you said no parodies, so ignore the above, but I thought it was clever enough to warrant leaving there.

Two days tie for first:

1. The day I carried my extremely ill wife in my arms into the hospital, where she stayed for the next 16 days and nearly died.

2. The Christmas Eve that my brother died during an operation.

When I was younger I got stuck in an elevator for 6 hours by myself and the lights went out.
Never been right since.

I drank too much aftershock one time and was so sick for a couple days.
