Just a quick check-in: this race is getting close, very close!

mk has just now (according to BOINCstats) 683 210 credits to 80M (should take 2.2 days according to BOINCstats.
petrusbroder has just now 1 204 774 credits to 80M, which according to BOINCstats should take 1.8 days ...

Thanks for the stats, mk! I am sure you can dump quite a few WUs, which i can not ... being diving in Thailand.

Sorry to disappoint you but there are no extra WUs to dump. All my computers have been cranked up to eleven the whole race and this is the best they can do. :(

Anyway, have a nice time in Thailand. :)

HA! You can't touch me! Your fleet is so far away that I can go and watch the extended LOTR trilogy and it still leaves more than enough time for evasive maneuvers. :D

Congrats to al Milestone Makers, Badge Obtainers, and not the least, a thanks to all who post stats and milestones! :D

Thanks for the stats update, mk.
Well it seems that it will be over in less than a day.
I have less than 470K left to crunch and that will be within 14 - 16 hours from now on.
mk has less than 380K to crunch and that should too be finished tomorrow.
It will be a matter of hours: both the end of the race and me passing mk.
I propose that we call the race a draw: we may not be able to se who reaches 80M first because BOINCstats is not precise enough.
Alternatively we could declare the person who has the most credits at stats-update tomorrow (Nov. 09, 2010, around 16:20 UTC) the winner.

The race has been productive:
In the 17 days the race will have taken the participants (mk and petrusbroder) will have crunched 16 815 650 credits for the TeAm Anandtech.
I will soon know which crunchers I can retire (He has several 2 core crunchers). All will be calculated when I come back home. Probably my electricity bill will drop a few percent ..

A very generous offer. The first one that is. From RAC perspective you should beat me to 80M but the exact time can only be known by monitoring each individual project (which I'm not going to do) though it should happen before tomorrow's update (probably before tomorrow morning, local time).
I'd be happy to settle for a tie if we both pass the 80 million mark in the same BOINCStats daily update cycle.

Agreed. If both of us - which more than probable, almost certain - are above 80 000 000 credits when the big daily update is run @ BOINCstats then the race is a draw.
I agree on the reasoning: that there is no certain way to ascertain when any of us is crossing the line. Also, the closeness of the race warrants a draw. :awe:

Here is a link to the BOINCstats-page used.

I just love racing! And I did not have the time to add my last GTX460 (OC'd to 850MHz) to the fray.
I will do that as soon as I can, probably the week end Nov 20 - 21. Then we will see ...
The comps for the Folding@Home Holiday Season Race will be there - hardware at least. Then I have to install all the software and get all the settings right, crunch at least 10 WUs per comp using the correct password (?) to get the max points ... ():)

you puppies should start using http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=index and get off the porch and start playing with the big dawgs... updates are more frequent than boinc stats.. at least they appear to be... about every 3 hours

And as per the discussion on the subject the result of the race is... A DRAW!

Go us! :D

Thanks for the exciting race, petrus. :)

Thanks to you too, mk! Yeah, we did have some fun ... Although I like winning. I still like racing much more - and that is part of the fun.
Most of the fun is however crunching for science. When I come back from Thailand, I'll take part in the Primegrid Race which goes for 24 hours from Nov. 17 - 18, then I'll set up the Folding@Home Holiday Season Race and after that I'll select to run only those projects which I deem needing a boost: based on scientific merits (85 percent) and server performance, WU avalibility (15 percent). I will also cut down on my computers (I have too many inefficient ones) and add more GPUs rather than CPU. I'll also test more new projects than I am doing now - and hope to revive TAS again ... Well, that may be too ambitious a hope, but may be ...
