The stores all seem to have shelves and tables of typical Thanksgiving menu items still on "sale" except for Turkeys. The day after Thanksgiving, the turkeys all jumped from 47 cents a pound to $1.10 /lb or higher. Duck and Geese went from $2.50 /lb to $5 or $6 /lb.
I actually had a rep from Corporate Fry's (grocery store) call me after I filled out a comment card who tried to convince me that only the "special order" turkeys brought in for Thanksgiving were discounted so deeply. Yeah right, like grocery stores have nothing to do with the flock management of the farms who supply them with turkeys. 'Cuz everyone knows, Americans only eat turkey on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
