POST Problem

Hey, so here's the outline of the problem. Awhile back I was playing a game and it crashed, hard. I had to do a cold reboot, but when it got past the first post screen, the computer stoped processing anything and just displayed a blinking hyphen. I eventually came to realise that if I waited 7-10 minutes with the computer off the computer was able to boot up completely like normal. My question is that what can I do to correct this problem? I know I've lived with it for awhile now but it's still a piss off. Sometimes the computer will reboot normally without having to turn it off for the 10 minutes, sometimes it takes more than 10 minutes. It's an Intel 865 board with a Turbolink 420W power supply (cheap, I know), I have a feeling it has to do with either the power supply or the motherboard. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Welcome to the forums.

Try a new psu -
some psu's have a locking mechanism that is triggered when something happens inside the psu.
When that happens, the charge has to dissipate before it will switch back on.
Get a good brand - if you have the cash - TAGAN480 is amazing.
When i took it out of the box it came in, i had to stare at it for ages - didn't think there was such a thing as good workmanship any more - but the Tagan proved me wrong.

Even the supplied power cord is shielded!!!!!!
wow
