I need to send a $300 travel voucher to American Airlines

Should I:
A) Certificate of Mailing: $0.39 + $0.95
B) Certified Mail: $0.39 + $2.40
C) Delivery ConfirmationTM: $0.39 + $0.60

Or a combination of their other options on their website. I am thinking option C.

What's the difference between Certified and Delivery Confirmation.

Certified Mail

Provides proof of mailing at the time of mailing and date and time of delivery or attempted delivery. A delivery record is maintained by the USPS. Available with First-Class Mail and Priority Mail. For an additional fee, Certified Mail may be combined with restricted delivery or return receipt.

Delivery ConfirmationTM

Provides the date and time of delivery or attempted delivery. May be purchased at the time of mailing only. Mailers may retrieve Delivery Confirmation information at the usps.com Track and Confirm website or by calling 800-222-1811. Available for Priority Mail and parcels sent as First-Class Mail, Parcel Post, Bound Printed Matter, or Media Mail.

Not available for: APO/FPO destinations and U.S. territories, possessions, and freely-associated states in Domestic Mail Manual 608 (except for Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands, to which service is available).

For an additional fee, Delivery Confirmation may be combined with: COD, insured mail, Registered Mail, return receipt for merchandise (Form 3804), or special handling. Restricted delivery is available if purchased with insurance for over $50, COD, or Registered Mail. Return receipt is available if purchased with insurance for over $50, COD, or Registered Mail.

They both provide you with a date and time of delivery and Delivery Confirmation should provide you with some proof of mailing. What are you getting for the extra $1.80?

Dont even bother with certified. It's way too expensive.

Just send it via Signature Confirmation.

Certified mail, I believe, is tracked by the USPS much like a Fedex or UPS package. It's a better from of tracking. Anything important I've ever received has always been sent certified.

I think Delivery Confirmation allows you to track packages online. That's the method Amazon.com used for a recent shipment. My question is what does Certified buy you over Delivery Confirmation. My guess when I go to the post office tomorrow they will have no clue.

Delivery Confirmation is NOT tracking!!!! it is worthless and flawed and wrong so much that it is not useable!!
