how many people are dead ? this could be exciting and it is definately a form of entertainment.

Way over the line. You're gone for a week. Keep this posting up and I guarantee your short time here at anandtech will be even shorter.

I'm surprised that our Dictator and Cheat hasn't said anything about it during his press confrence. Barry's team must be too busy focusing like a laser on building a mosque.

Keep your trolling and personal politics out of a serious thread in which people lost their lives

Between those two is a post that's unmoderated, that I used the flag button on last night and has not had any moderation:

Got a death poll going so far numbers of dead are 26,45 and 46. 10 bucks a head.....

Go back. Look at the post. Look at the member title. I think that indicates something has been done about it.

Finally, a banned title for people to laugh at that has more then just the ban part.

I banned him late last night. His first four posts were insensitive and extremely vile. Another moderator gave him his "custom title" today

WTF - no politics in a thread in P&N? seriously? I know I've been critical of the "judgement" calls in the past but this one ranks right up there. Yes, the one guy was over the line but to retroactively say no politics at all in the thread is a bit much. Sheesh...

"This ranks right up there"

Not what does this have to do with the topic of this thread??? This was about the pipeline blast, not about the mosque in NY. This poster was trolling in a thread with no comment about the San Bruno explosion. This was his personal dislike for the president being brought up in a thread where it has no business being brought up.

I'm surprised that our Dictator and Cheat hasn't said anything about it during his press confrence. Barry's team must be too busy focusing like a laser on building a mosque.

I understand that it was a diversion and didn't claim it was innocent. However, he used the incident as a jump off point - which happens in most any thread in P&N - even "news" threads. The issue here was the over reaction of ___ to the politics the thread contained... or should I say the "certain politics" the thread contained because other political comments were left untouched. It seems things have been corrected now so all is well.

I was just trying to clean up the thread. It was very serious subject matter and several other made light of that situation, (people dying body counts, etc).

The poster you referenced was only warned. It really wasn't that big of a deal. It was the others that concerned me and they were vacationed for those posts.

I had no problem with the initial actions. It was the actions of yesterday that were in question. FNE and infohawk were banned and now unbanned. It was the banning of them for the politics yet ignoring the 4 others I quoted in the thread who posted something "political".

Where were you when thousands of threads were derailed due to someone's "personal dislike" for Bush?

If we can have threads about 9/11 being a conspiracy by the U.S. Government I don't see how ANY thread can be 'disrespectful' to be completely honest. If the mods want a 'hands off' thread I think they need to make it VERY clear like the 'Names of the Dead' thread. I don't think we can just randomly start taking threads where people died and just make them offlimits to political commentary as there usually is a very political aspect to them.

One poster went over the line wishing for more deaths.. that poster should have been dealt with and that should have been it.

Agree...but if this is the standard then IMO it should be applied to those wishing the death of tea partiers as well. The inconsistency speaks volumes.

Stupid people say stupid things, while that may seem obvious, a lot of people don't notice it.
