Post here if you LOVE where you work

so I work at this place that's absolutely fabulous.....they environment is soo laid back, everyone is friendly, there's no backstabbing. They hire specifically the best of the best in whatever field they're hiring in, and make sure their personality meshes with everyone else. EVERYDAY at 3 we get popcorn and another mystery snack. Several times per week they have a spread of sandwhiches, or a make your own type deal with sandwhich meat and condiments and bread. PLUS there's always parties...for valentines there was a giant chocolate fountain...for cinco de mayo we played bingo and had mexican themed food. There's events in cities like boston where they throw parties for everyone, it's great. I love it here. My boss is extremely friendly, and helpful, there's no worries about getting brow-beat for asking questions, everyone's patient...I just love it here. Anyone else feel the same about where they work?

edit: For St. Patty's day we had beer. They were dissapointed I didn't bring in whiskey like I said I was going to...I thought they were kidding

edit 2: The CFO just walked by wearing a clown nose

I have to say I love my job too. I work for one of the largest oil drilling companies in the USA and the corporate office is here in my hometown. I'm in the IT Department and everything we work on is brand new. Mainly I sit at my desk surfing the internet while waiting on calls from remote locations or problems in the office. My boss and the other guys in the department all get along. We have two kitchens that are packed with snacks and drinks. Every Tuesday is breakfast burrito day. Its a great job and a great experience for me. Plus salary rocks.

I love where I work. The people I work with are great. My office window view is from the highest point in the city of Baltimore, and I can see everything! Everything is laid back from the time you arrive, leave, go for lunch. And the benefits are among the best.

Sounds like the company I used to work for. Then they went bankrupt and got bought out. Half the people got fired and the other half were forced to do 5 jobs and get half the pay and no benefits.

I'm exaggeratting, but it's really gone downhill from the good 'ole days.

Hey wait a minute, I still work there! ******!

🙁

I wish I'd find a better job in VA already!

I actually really like my employer. Certain positions suck, that's for sure, but I don't know any place that can really make a CSR job seem fun. (CSR's account for probably 500 of our 1100 employees)

They pay fairly well for the job duties. They have R&R days every quarter where they have coolers full of beer and nachos and goofy games to play. Everybody here from the CEO on down is very approachable and easy to talk to.

Tons of possible career paths with excellent room to advance from within. Health insurance is dirt cheap and there's plent of bonuses and incentives to be had. They also do BOTH profit sharing AND 401k matching.

No real complaints at all.

I work as a teacher for my neighborhood elementary school... I work constantly (middle school and high school teachers have it easy.... elementary school teachers have to make things bright, cheery, and fun!) and I am underpaid.

But there is no place else I would rather be.

i really like where i work at too. it gets regularly rated in the top 100 companies to work for, blah blah blah. what i really like is how laid back it is, while still maintaining an amount of artery clogging stress.

the outside-of-work social interaction is good too. i've had managers over for dinner and gone out drinking with other colleagues while still maintaining the understanding of roles at work.

I hope I feel the same way in a few years when I start teaching. 🙂

I used to work at a place like that in IT - surrounded by lots of smart people that worked hard and played hard. Monthly company meeting always had a couple kegs. There was a pool table/ping pong room right next to the server room too. I don't know which room I spent more time in 🙂. Then the dot com came crashing and I haven't worked at a similar job since then - they are been real jobs - all work not much play.

Hi LadyBuggy

If you are getting into teaching because it is who you are (rather than something you think will be easy!) then you WILL love it. Because you will be loved and appreciated for what you do, and what you do is something that stems from who you are.

This is teacher appreciation week and it has been very sweet to read the cards my students have written for me! They have grown so much this year. 🙂

The firm I work for is a fun place to play with. We have quarterly meetings at some event like a baseball game, bowling alley, the Boston Aquarium, etc. Even during the work week, our boss often springs for lunch or something.

The actual work is a PITA though. MA is one of the most complicated States real estate wise. Especially since we do foreclosures.

I like where I work. It's super layed back, I come and go as I please, I work from home when I want, they take us to amusement parks/movies, take me out to lunch at a fancy restaurant once a week, I have lots of friends there, got a hot secretary.
