POST failure with Radeon 9500

I recently installed a new Sapphire Radeon 9500, and my computer won't power-up. The fans twitch, and then it powers down before it even gets started. The power remains disabled until I flip the power-supply switch off for a few minutes.

I tried this with everthing unplugged except for the following:
Antec TruePower 550 power supply
MSI KT3+ board with latest BIOS
Athlon XP 1800+ (not overclocked)
low-RPM 80mm case fan on CPU heatsink
2x 512 Mb Corsair DDR
CD and DVD drives
Sapphire Radeon 9500

If I unlug the Radeon 9500's dedicated power plug, I get lots of beeping and a flashing message "Your Radeon 9700 power is not plugged in" before the BIOS screen (and can't get past the error message)

If I plug in everything but use my old Radeon 8500, it boots just fine.

The 9500 works just fine in my other computer, with 320w power and a K7S5A board

Any ideas?

Thanks

Bump.... c'mon, anyone got any ideas? I returned the card, but I'd like to upgrade my video someday and I'm afraid this will happen again
