POST Audio Beep Question

Hello forum members,

After only a few hours of perfect performance, my new MB quit booting up at the very begining of POST - no video sync with a continous series of six seconds long audio beeps.

I've already replaced the video card, the power supply, processor, and disconnected all IDE cables and power cables from drives, removed all cards, and reset the CMOS back to factory defaults my means of an onboard jumper. My question is what does the continous series of six seconds long audio beeps mean? It is a Shuttle MB (AS45GT) with Phoenix BIOS and SIS chipset. The only thing I haven't replaced is the DDR DIMM RAM. Is my motherboard already defective?

Thanks much,

Roy Smith

Have you got the keyboard and mouse connected backwards? 6 beeps usually means that your keyboard controller (the A20 gate) is not operating properly.

I get a continous series of beeps, each beep is 6 seconds long. And wouldn't the monitor still get a sync signal anyway?
