I recommend the Movie "Running with the Devil". It set in Missouri during the Civil War. Thus it is a cross between western and a war movie. The death toll is very high, and the script is well written in the appriopriate dialect. Excellent movie, rent it soon.

I recommend Magnolia, a very moving movie!

I also second the vote for 24: First Season. It's like a 17 hour long movie but it makes you want to watch it straight and I would have if I weren't limited to 3 DVDs at a time from Netflix.:p
