Ah yes. And now we see that rare specimen, the Literaita ePeenicus. The Literaita ePeenicus lives in caves, like most other trolls, and only shows himself on occasion to profess the opinion that only long-since deceased writers may be considered worthwhile reading. They pay no mind to such facts that those "great" writers were once considered "trash" by their contemporaries, or that countless example of quality literature have been produced within the last 0-100 years, as well.

Aye, this is a rare find indeed. Let us observe the Literaita ePeenicus, shall we?

Wasn't Don Quixote written in middle english? I dunno about anyone else, but I'd much rather read an up-to-date language than an archaic dead one.

I never read Dune, but I've read plenty of Star Wars books (when I was 14 anyway) and Stephen King books. Even enjoyed most of them. Don Quixote just happens to be better, and I'm just reacting to the countless recommendations on this board of those books. The Stephen King books anyway, most of the nerds on this board keep their secret Star Wars novel fetish to themselves.

It is written in Castilian Spanish, that language is very alive today. You'll have to find a quality translation to really enjoy it, I read the Putnam.
 
Having fun with "The singularity is near" right now. Non-fiction sci-fi.

For fiction, currently reading The Death Gate Cycle.
