No not THAT kind of rack :p . I mean the kind that you have PCs mounted on as I'm sure a few members here have one (possibly more) rack for their PCs. Mine's not a true rack mount, although there is are rack mount ears available for this rack, I just don't have any rack mount cases. So here are my pics, post yours:

Upper half or rack
Lower half of rack

I too have one of those, this is for my servers. If I had all of those at my desk it'd be kinda crowded.

Somehow, some way I figured somebody would post a picture along those lines in this thread.

Good, I seriously doubt anybody here has a "real" rack-mount setup - it costs a ridiculous amount of money for like... 2 or 3 servers maybe?

I am in the process of building a custom half-rack. It can be done for a reasonable price IF you shop right. I am converting to rack systems because I find them to be MUCH easier to work with hardware wise.

How so? Now, I have been replacing rack cabinets with relay racks for space reasons, but that's still rack-mounting. Or do only full-sized rack cabinets count as real?

For a while I had my main "desktop" computer built in a half-size rack cabinet. That was back when hard drives were smaller and I made rack-mount "modules" of hard drives with rack ears and perforated strips of metal. It certainly was a lot easier to get decent airflow and cooling (and mount as many drives as needed) than you get with a standard PC case.

It's impractical for any home user who doesn't really have space issues.... truly overkill
