Of course there's always a catch the URL is www.freewebs.com/yoursitehere
Still not bad if you just need a basic page or somewhere to store your files.
what do you think is the best? (free or low cost)

The best low cost is RippleHost for $9.99/yr

It's better than this free offer because:

True www.yourdomain.com hosting
Email (IMAP/POP3)
Webmail
cPanel control panel
FTP
100MB webspace
1GB bandwidth

GeoCities

Hourly 1MB bandwidth limits, no hotlinking images, ads and no FTP.

I hate those asshats. They used to be really good when they had FTP.

I like using freewebs for small sites.

pair Networks has that beat, hands down.

If you're looking for DIRT cheap, yet still extremely reliable hosting, I've been with pair for going on 6 years now. Their lowest/most basic account is:

FTP - $5.95/month

- Includes Virtual Domain
- 100MB/Day Traffic (3GB/mon)
- 100MB Disk Space
- 1 Mailbox
- E-Mail Support
- Login by FTP
- Ideal for auction image hosting
- Supports multiple Virtual Domains
- Free Web-Based E-mail Interface
- Junk E-Mail Filtering
- 24-hour access to upload and update files
- Automatic prepayment discounts
- 30-day Money Back Guarantee, including Setup Fees
- Unlimited e-mail forwarding addresses, aliases and auto-responders
- Account Control Center to manage your services
- Host multiple domains - $15 setup and $1/month each
- Web-Based E-mail Interface to access your mail from anywhere
- First Virtual Domain included by default but not required

Personally, I use their Webmaster plan as it comes with a few other nice toys that I just can't live without, but I did use an FTP account with them for about 3 years, and never once had an issue.

I like using my own web hosting accounts on servers at ThePlanet.com and NAC.net

Fast, reliable and cheap.
