If I buy a smart phone that runs Windows Mobile 5, can I run *any* Windows Mobile software on it, or only software that I purchase through my phone service provider?

I want to be able to run custom developed software on the phone, without having to go through Verizon or T-mobile or someone to supply me with software. Is this possible?

Typically, you should be able to load any Windows Mobile compatible software onto it.

It will run any software that is compatible with WM 5.0, not limited to software sold or provided by provider.

Cool. This isn't the way a standard cell phone tends to work, so I wanted to make sure.
