Please don't tell me to rtfm, I read it and couldn't find my answer - or rather, I think I did find the answer, but it seems so ridiculous... Is there any way to simply split mp3 files, or must you reencode each piece? I ask because reencoding results in a loss of sound quality, and the mp3 format easily allows for splitting - programs like virtual dub easily do it, but only on sound files attached to a video, of course. The manual & program seem only to allow splitting if you reencode each piece you're splitting from a larger file.

Sorry about the empty post, accidentally hit enter

What I'm trying to do is take some of my favorite parts out of various trance mixes and make one mix out of them. Nothing fancy (might be a good idea to fade though, come to think of it), but it's imperative that I be able to simply "cut and paste" - I'm no audiophile, but sound quality is important enough to me that I don't want to re-encode.

As such, can anyone suggest an app to do this? I'd much prefer freeware..
