possibly silly question about mobile cpu's

I've been reading up a little on the various CPU options and think I will build myself a (relatively) quiet system using one of the mobile processors.

It appears that a mobile XP chip runs in the usual socket A that most AMD based mobo's sport.. however, I get the impression that a mobile P4 runs in a Micro socket 478, which i assume is different from the usual s478... is that correct? or does it just plug right into the usual s478?? This might sound a little silly to the initiated, but I havent messed around with CPUs that much and could not find a straight answer at the various sites that describe the mobile cpu's

AMD is the king of the mobile right now...you'll probably get better results with one of those (plus a LOT cheaper)

Um.. err.. uhhh..

running 2.9ghz right now (FSB = 242, 33C idle, 45C closed case under Prime95 load w/Intel copper core hs/fan)

fits just fine in my P4P8X - no heatspreader and no need for one.


edit: please, oh please, tell us fanboi525 how much faster it would be, how much more it would cost and how much more heat it would produce. The only sick part is the amount of bias, unfounded, AMD fanboism on AT forums.

edit2: I backed down the FSB to 240 to become Prime95 stable.

but a mobile athlon running at 2.5 would eat that chip alive at 2.7 it would be just sick how much faster it would be
