Great news!

My wife's company is relocating us to Orange / Riverside County area! We currently live in Atlanta, GA

I could use some info on what things are like out that way. Jobs, Traffic etc.

We are looking at the City of Corona as a place to live as the size of the house we are use to requires us to move more inland. Any info on the area would greatly be appreciated.

My wife is from Woodland Hills but has not been there in 25 years and we both grew up in SF Bay Area. So we know how awesome California is just need some general info on the area.

Edit:She has a choice of working at one these offices located in Orange, Santa Ana, Northridge, Riverside, Costa Mesa, or Santa Fe Springs.

The job I would be looking for is in the IT field. I have my CCNA and familiar with LAN/WAN networking, IP pnones and repair computers, servers, printers

Get ready to enter the great state of economic lunacy;)

Corona is kinda yucky IMHO.

Remember that San Bernadino and riverside counties are the welfare and pollution capitals of the country:Q

BTW I-10 I beleive it is that runs from riverside from LA is A PARKING LOT during rush hour.

Thanks Tarca

Traffic will suck a$$ (well maybe not that bad compared to atlanta). Corona isn't the best place to live. Jobs is suck. I will elaborate later but i have to work.

Well, if you live in Orange County you could always do Irvine, that's not bad at all. Corona is kinda blech. Maybe if you can tell us what price range and what size house we can help some more.

Thanks! LOL My commute right now is over an hour and I only travel 17 miles! They might have air conditioning down here but they just figured out how to lay asfault, heaven forbid you put in a clover leaf!:D

300,000 max on house price right now as I will need to find a job.

3-4 bedrooms would be good.

Corona is icky, boring, and smells bad. The only good thing is that it's real close to a great paintball field - Sat Cong Village.
Riverside is bigger but not much better. It's the asscrack of the LA area by virtue of its distance from the main hub of activity.

hm, Orange OR Riverside County? that's like moving to Good or Bad County. You won't be disappointed with the more coastal cities in Orange County (i.e. Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa - some parts, Irvine, Laguna) but home prices are still pretty high around here =\. Nowhere near San Francisco though, so just have a look around.

There's the problem. We are moving from just north of Atlanta GA and we live in a 2,500 sq ft house + an 800 sq ft basement on 3/4 acre wooded lot. Sell for 165,000.

You ask why move.

Both of our families live in Northern CA and the weather of course.:D

Oh man, you're gonna have to live out in Rancho Cucamonga or something to get a house that big that cheap. If I were you, I'd make some sacrifices in space and live near the coast.

Yes I need to study up more on the area. I have been there qutie a few times when I was younger but have no clue on what it is like now.

If Corona is as bad as you all say you should check out the City web site and the video they have there....

Welcome to Corona, The Circle City

Put it this way, there's a reason everyone makes fun of the "909" (refers to area code)

EDIT: Lookin into Moreno Valley.

One of the guys at work moved out there. How he can commute to El Segundo everymorning is amazing to me. Then again, I suppose my 45 mile commute out to school is pretty out there as well.

What's wrong w/ the "909" area code. Thats my home area... Walnut, CA. It's in San Bernardino county and it's far from being a welfare capital. Heck, Diamond Bar is "909" and has its fair share of mansions.

The City of Corona is nowhere near Orange County. I wouldn't want to move there.... extremely hot, polluted, drunk drivers, and in the middle of nowhere in the desert. Thats in the heart of the valley...

Orange County. Republican capital of the world. Most of it is clean, safe, and relatively dull. A good palce to raise a family though.

Both places will have horrible traffic regardless. Well the streets of OC aren't that bad, but the freeways... god be with you.

I'd look at parts of Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, and Tustin. Some parts are pretty bad, but there are still spots (closer to Irvine and Newport Beach) that are nice. Irvine, Newport Beach, Corona Del Mar townhomes run for a half million alone.

If you need to stay in the valley. Walnut, Diamond Bar, West Covina, etc. Again, certains spots are bad but there are plenty of nice areas. A lot cheaper than the coastal OC areas.

I'm going to school at Irvine (live in townhome..r enting a room), and have a home in the valley. Home is ~350k and is a 3 bedroom in Walnut, CA. No way are you gong to find the same space as your home in Atlanta for the same price unless you really want to be in Riversaide.

But I must repeat. Avoid Riverside County.

The 909 that I deal with on a consistent basis besides Cal Poly is Devore (Blockbuster Pavilion). I see what lives the 909 when Ozzfest rolls around, heck, even when Inland Invasion rolls around. I've gotten out of my car at school and smelled the bovine. I went out to Redlands once to visit some friends and another friend of mine lives out in Rancho. Those areas seem ok.
