I think I have lost my SIN card completely, has anyone had to deal with this before ? I'm guessing it's similar to losing your birth certificate on the level of shear complexity for replacing it.

:(

Edit - I do have the number though, memorized...

SIN?

SSN you mean?

If you do mean your social security card, it's very easy to get a replacement. Just find a local social security office, go pick up the form & follow the instructions. Took me less than a week from turning in the form to getting my replacement in the mail.

If you don't mean that, please ignore those instructions.

Im not sure how it is in canada, but I know that if you lose your SSN card you can easily have identity theft dont against you. And I know they SIN cards are easily replaced. My husband had his replaced recently.

Edit: For those who dont know SIN = Social Insurance Number. = SSN

Oh ok (thanks Viper, you are right)

Great, I'll do that later this week then. I wonder if this is going to screw up student loan information and other things like that since the number will change...

most likely. When I was first applying for student loans I had to do a bunch of extra crap because of something wrong with my SSN.
