Possibly hot deal on Athlon 900 Tbird- mobo combo

First time poster,

Think this is hot, Fry's ad for a combination Soyo SY-K7VTA-B motherboard and 900Mhz Athlon Tbird for $169. This included a retail box for the Athlon with heatsink and fan. Seemed like most of the priceline combo's started at least at $200 and up. Hope this helps someone, this forum has helped me out a lot.

This is a Socket A Athlon, bought it at the Fry's in Cambell CA, San Fransico Bay Area.

I just called a couple of Fry's stores and here's what I found out....

The Palo Alto Store said they have an Athlon/Duron 850 w/ the Soyo mobo for $169, but
that the cpu was out of stock and they expect some maybe tomorrow.

The Campbell store, to which the original poster made reference, told me what they
had for $169 was a DURON 800 and the Soyo mobo. And that there was a separate
bare-bones PC deal which includes a 900 Athlon/Duron (was unclear) and a mobo
and case for two hundred something... may have been $210 or $290 i don't recall.

Anyways... hope that helps.... some...


And for the person asking when the deal starts/ends... a guy at the Palo Alto store
told me it ends this weekend.

EVERYTIME I've tried to get myself one of these Fry's combo's they've been sold out (this was the case with the kt7a-Raid and 1 gig for 299 and some other one as well). I doubt you'll be able to pick up several since these things get picked up within a few hours of opening. Good luck to you guys though.

Well since i don't have a Fry's near me ... can anybody recommend a good place to get an Asus A7V motherboard online or at B&M?

Not in Southern Calif. They have a base system with the motherboard & the Athlon 900 CPU (Socket), case, powersupply, modem, and floppy drive form $319

They also have a microstar K7T-Pro 2A motherboard & duron 750 for $179.
