When I load up my PC it stops at the POST. It posts the CPU and speed and is about to display the ide drives and then just stops. I have however got it to run through once or twice. Is it possible the motherboard is messed up, or could it be something else? Ive swapped parts in and everything works fine.

Be sure your case speaker is hooked up, and listen for beep codes. My new board has numerical post codes.

case speaker is hooked up, and no beeps. Its ran through once or twice so I know it can boot up. Ive swapped every possible component including the processor, and nothing. When I swap out the motherboard everything boots up good. Im guessing it the mobo since it doesnt work when that one is in. Could it be the bios taht im running?

AMD xp 2400+
soyo dragon motherboard(not sure of the model #)
Nvidia 5200 fx
20GB maxtor ata & 80GB seagate ata
4x DVD drive
512mb 266 DDR RAM

Not sure of the sound card, but this is pretty much everything. I cant remember the exact details of the CPU since I built it almost 3 years ago. I know everything is out dated, but like I said, its almost 3 years old. I dont do heavy gaming so this CPU fits my needs.

Have you tried unpluging you hard drives and just booting from a CD? Or with no IDE device plugged in at all? Did you mess with the auto config area for devices in your BIOS?

If none of them are plugged in do you get the invalid boot driver or system disk error? Or does it not even get that far?
