(possibly)DEAD! Smoking hot laptop from dell. $499 after $400 off instantly

I would spend another $100 and stepup to the more powerful P-m 1.73ghz. Add the fact that you get 1gb of ram with a 60gb 5400 rpm HD, this is smoken hot.

Of course, your Compaq 2552 has the advantage of being 1.5lbs-2lbs lighter than this monster. So if you're actually going to carry your laptop around, you might want to think about that. 😉 O/w, the Dell is a nice deal.

This is hot considering the options. At first, I saw the model and price and thought it would be a typical deal but 60 GB HDD, 1 GB of RAM, and a DVD+/-RW? Almost tempting to buy it and resell so I can swap some components between it and an Inspiron 6400 (also has free 1 GB RAM deal and supposedly free DVD+/-RW but I'm not seeing it for the 6400 on the EPP/Education site).

A couple people over at corvetteforum.com are calling in to Dell and still getting the deal.
Might want to hurry!

It is dead - I've been keeping an eye out for someone I know who's in the market for a notebook, and they liked this one, before it sold out. I called Dell and their inventory shows the same. In fact, they tried to tell me the deal expired at 4:30 (it sold out, not expired, in reality).

Whoever on those forums got in was already on the line when they sold out, in all likelihood.
