(Possibly) dead motherboard?

Well, my warranty period on my motherboard (refurbished) ended today, so I figured I would test it out to make sure it works. I installed the motherboard in the case, put in the CPU in, the fan on, and connected the fan power. I installed a 512 MB stick of PC2700, my old Rage Fury Maxx, connected the power connector, and the red and green LCD lights on the motherboard lit up. I connected the wires from the case to the board. I proceeded to hit the power button, and there was absolutely no response. The CPU fan didn't even spin up. The jumper is set correctly to 200, I have tried RAM slots 1 and 3, and nothing happened. Well, at one point, I bent one of the pins for the power button connector on the motherboard, so I bent it back, and the connector fit on, so I don't think that is the problem. All I can think of is a CMOS reset. I mean, I will just RMA it and get an EpoX 8RDA+ or Soltek board, but I would rather keep this Asus. Anything I'm missing? Thanks.

Dunno what MoBo you have but try using a different Fan Header for the HS/Fan

If you are 100% sure you have the power button on the right pins it is probably a defective motherboard. Make sure the power button is on the correct pins!!!! I will usually use a flathead screwdriver instead of the power button connector to find the power on pins. Just touch any two pins at the same time until you find the correct ones that power the system on. If none of them seem to "jump start" the MB then it is dead...unless of course the power supply is causing the problem. I would at least take it down to processor, H/S fan only (no ram) and then try again. The board should at least power on with nothing more attached.
Good luck!

Hey that's some good advice with the screwdriver, I had never thought how to "jump start" a mobo with out a case. Thanks for the tip.

So far, no luck. The power supply is fine, as I used the paperclip trick and the case fans came on. Anyway, I tried the flathead idea, but there is nothing. I think I am going to RMA this board. Thanks for all the help.
