Possibly Dead EVGA 6800GT

1. Put the card in
2. Boot up...durring the boot screens there is a bunch of wacky colors all over (looks like srtifacts....i read this happens with some of the cards all the time)
3. XP detects new card
4. I DLed newest and 2nd newest nvidia drivers
5. Install the drivers....at the LAST part of the installation where the card kinda refreshes the monitor to get it to sync up....the monitor stays off and the PC crashes....and restarts
6. when I get back into windows it has record of the card being installed and wants to install it again...
7. Tried the process 3-4 times in different machines with older/newer drivers and no luck

Bought it used on FS/FT with a not DOA policy....
 
Methinks the card's screwed.

Edit: Did you plug in the extra power connector?
 
I would try re-seating all the connections. If it still does the artifacting, it sounds like somebody tried to overclock it and went a bit too far...
