Possibly a Silly Router Question

I've been looking at a router to tweak with DD-WRT and found the Buffalo 125 is cheap and easy to flash. One thing that puzzles me is that many posts, blogs, reviews, etc. claim "the processor is fast!" [/I]but exactly what is meant by fast? Is it faster DL speed, wireless x-fers, more responsive delivering web traffic? What part of "fast" am I missing?

I'm currently using a Linksys WR54G v8 which is non-flashable with DDWRT and I am rather disappointed with the basic options. It replaced a cheap 5 year old D-Link wireless B that had more options.

I have 8M down cable connection and I always get at at least that much. I don't do wireless very often so I can't say how my Linksys compares but it does okay.

For regular use the fast processor means very little since it has nothing to do with the Internet connection speed.

In cases of large member of users, and or heavy download activity faster processor would provide more stability.

However Fast or Not, the Buffalo is less expensive and in general much better than many others Wirless Router, so what is the issue?
