QFT, wtf buys a Macintosh for the hardware?

err but if u bought a mac for its form + os it would become even more useful if u could dual boot into xp. adding another function is not stupid at all.

and no, most people don't need a massively insane fast computer just to run most normal apps or laptops would be useless. frankly most of us use the power of our computers to play games lol🙂

Yes they just need an over priced machine that "looks nice" and has subpar components..

I want to do it because then it will allow me to run photoshop and illustrator, and so on until Adobe releases intel versions. I'm practically useless if I can't use those programs.

I thought it was able run old Mac software through emulation?

Not professional software at decent speeds.... There is only so much slow I can take.

subpar? they work fine, and the form factor simplicity and reliability is a good thing. just look at the questions and problems you see on these forums from tech geeks who should know what they are doing lol. ack

Subpar, the apple G5 is nowhere near as fast as it's direct competitor systems. Sure it will now be using intel processors but intel processors suck compared to AMD (well conroe does seem promising) but apple uses overpriced slow ram, cheap HDDs and crappy video cards making their upgrade path limited.. I hate apple and steve jobs in general so I may seem a bit baised...
