I was able to get a line from a local dealer for a Saphire X1800XT 512. This looks like a great card and retails for $612 Canadian. However was reading some faqs on the newer X1900 cards and heck the listed price for the 1900XT and XTX does not "seem" to be that much more than the current price for an X1800XT. Now my issue is availability.. will these 1900 cards be impossible to find and jacked up to insane prices? I can get the x1800XT in a few days or so my vendor assures me.... what would you all suggest. Of course a 7800GTX from MSI is available today for $599 or a BFG GTX for $629 Vivo... man decisions..

Word is, unlike the x1800 was originally released, the x1900 parts will be available from day 1. If you are patient enough, I would wait 2 weeks for the release and make a decision then, as the x1800 parts may become discounted. It all depends on how urgent it is to get a new card.

Regarding the GTX, I would still hold off. You would kick yourself if you spent that money only to see the x1900 come in at a similar price with most likely much better performance.

Agreed. If you still want the X1800 then wait til the X1900's are released, you will get a better deal. Also, That's word on the street, X1900's Available on day one, and plenty to go around. Personally, I'd wait for the X1900 and buy that.

Guess I could have saved myself some typing and just said "ditto" :p

The X1900XT will likley be at least $150 more, probably $200 more when it comes out than the X1800XT. Its impossible to say right now, but the extra performance, may not be worth the extra cash. You can have the 1800 now, and not wait. Personally I would just get the X1800 now, and not wait. Because as I said, the X1900 is very likely to be at least $150 more. At least for a month or so, as is the case with virtually all cards.

Its hard to say which is the "right" move, waiting, or buying now. You probably cant go wrong either way. The newer card will be faster, but cost more. And you have to wait for it. However, it may not be fast enough for you, to warrant the extra cash and waiting.

The X1800XT was available from day one. Even before day one in fact. You could always find one if you wanted one.
