Possible Winsock corruption.... NO internet connection... Help Plz!

Absolutely nothing I've tried will allow a friend of mine to get online after removeing new.net from his computer!!! I've tried the manual uninstall that new.net suggested would get the internet back up, but it didn't work! Does anyone know how to do a winsock repair.... or any other ideas that might get him back online???

I am assuming you are running XP or 2000.... Do a repair install. Throw the Cd in the drive, boot off of it and do a repair install. It should replace all files on the HD with the correct versions on the CD. Great for Virus recovery too....
