If I yahoo something, ie: gmail, it comes up with the proper search results. When I hit the link, gmail, it takes me to some crazy off the wall site, never the same site though. It is not pron sites or anything but stuff like "car shopper" or the such. Anyone else had this happen? Virus?

Thanx!

1) Did HijackThis come up with anything out of the ordinary? Post your HJT log if you want.

2) Do an ipconfig /all from a command prompt and post your DNS servers' IP addresses here. Are they your ISP's own DNS servers?

3) Also check your router/gateway/modem DNS settings. While it may sound far-fetched, there's evidently malware that will use JavaScript to modify your router's DNS settings :Q Symantec's writeup on this, scroll down to JavaScript Malware.

I think your DNS servers got hijacked. Fix all of the O17 entries and think about switching to a Limited or Standard user account.

Also, go to Add/Remove Programs, remove all your existing versions of Sun Java (rebooting as needed), then get Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 from here. Run the Secunia online checkup to see if you need patches for other stuff.
