Possible to use VPN from an ICS client?

I'm wondering if it's possible for me to make a VPN connection over the internet from a client using ICS (Windows internet connection sharing). I use VPN to connect into my work network and would like to be able to do so from my second PC (ICS client) without affecting the net connection on my main PC. Is this possible? When I have tried, the VPN connection times out saying that the destination is not responding, even though I can connect from the main pc.

The main pc (ICS server) is running Win2k SP1, while the other pc (ICS client) is running Win98SE.

I'm not too familiar with ICS, so I don't know if it's possible (or necessary) to allow it to route cerain data and ports.

Any thoughts?

At least PPTP works under this setup. I had this setup for at least a year before I installed a router last month.

I've been told that the VPN solution we use (Nortel Extranet, using IPSec) will not work if you are using Network Address Translation (NAT)...I don't use ICS, but I believe your 2nd PC is using your ICS server to do NAT so it can get out on the internet...So it probably shouldnt work.
My understanding of ICS is you use it when you have one IP and more than one machine..Only your Server has the real IP and the VPN Server you are trying to communicate with will only autheniticate with the real IP that it thinks is trying to hook up with it...If you try and do it from the 2nd PC, the VPN server sees the real PC, but when trys to get back to your 2nd PC it finds it really has a different address and says NOT!

Thanks, davisdog - that makes sense. There has to be a way to be able to use VPN behind a firewall/proxy/etc...

Is Sygate a NAT solution? I wonder if that would work better if I could route specific ports on to the second pc.

Anyone have ideas on how I can accomplish this?
