Possible to use Seagate's Goflex firewire 800 adapter with 3.5" 1TB drive?

Now that I've upgraded to an SSD on my iMac, I want to put my original 1TB 3.5" HD to use via firewire, wondering if it's possible to attach the drive to Seagate's firewire 800 adapter?

Would be awesome if I could as it's the most simple and inexpensive solution to reusing my existing HD.

I wouldn't imagine why not, is it just an external firewire 800 enclosure? Just make sure it's SATA if your drive is SATA and so forth.

Just tried it, nope it doesn't work. The hard drive doesn't even spin up, I guess the firewire doesn't have enough juice to power a 3.5" drive.
