Hi, I want to buy a Q6600 G0 Stepping CPU. Is there any cue from the codes on the outer packaging of a retail boxed chip that indicate it is in fact a G0 stepping CPU, or is it impossible to tell until you open the box ?

I was hoping to go to a local PC store and ask to look at a few boxes to find one that is a G0 if this is indeed possible.

Thanks.

club it and tank guys are guaranteeing G0 stepping. they've got good shipping and should be tax-free for you, too.

My SLACR Q6600 package with G0 stepping.

Why do it the hard way? It's not always easy to see some of the engraving on the cpu....esp. inpoor lighting.

Do it the way Viper GTS recommended......just look at the big, white sticker on the end of the box. All the info from the cpu is replicated there.....and more.

Like VGTS said, the last 5 figures in the Prod. Code line are what you're looking for.

Easy enough that you may not even have to pick up a box at all, just quickly scan the sides for the preferred prod. code.

Exactly what this girl said.

Just ask the guy at the cage. I doubt they'll have the boxes out front. Ask him what the last 5 figures are on the product code on that white box area.
